We live in a world that is increasingly losing touch with God. While the rank of those who have not heard of the Lord Jesus Christ is increasing, there is sadly a corresponding increase in the number of those who are drifting far away from Him though they claim that He is the Lord of their lives. I am worried that the cup seems half empty.
I am also disturbed because the Church seems to have lost its voice, even in the African context. The voiceless rarely count on the Church to stand for them or even support them in the struggle to be heard. Political authorities and others seeking for truth tellers seldom turn to leaders of the church. Ungodly compromises, biblical illiteracy, incompetent leaders, insensitivity to the context and the neglect of genuine worship have definitely crippled the Church.
Though I am disturbed by what I have observed I am very hopeful. I believe God has a sure ‘bail out’ plan. The current scenario which is

created partly because the Church is experiencing a character ‘melt down’ can be reversed if we will rise to rediscover our roles and responsibilities in God’s agenda. God is counting on you as a Christian educator.
I am inviting you to join me in this reflections on the Church and Christian Educators. First let’s reflect on the Church: In your own opinion why is the Church (or precisely your denomination or and local church) holding the short end of the stick in the contest with the world? What is it about the church that you wish you could do some thing about? How can the church effectively disciple or mentor the next generation? What can we do to empower those leading the Church today? We will later reflect on the role and responsibilities of the Christian Educator in today’s church.
